Chris is a visionary Director, Editor, Visual effects virtuoso who can turn the most simple green screen shot into a world beyond your dreams. Based out of Los Angeles, California, Chris has a long resume of working with high profile musicians in documentaries, music videos, and commercials.
Although many call him Champ, he entered this world many years ago as Chris James Champeau. Chris was raised in rural Wisconsin, where he was exposed to a different upcoming than most. Hunting, fishing, camping, polish food and of course football were many of his passions at an early age. Growing up he was extremely involved in athletics. Chris took pride in competing as a four-sport athlete. Swimming year round, Cross Country in the fall, Track in the Spring, and Triathlons in the Summer. However, the arts were not forgotten. Beginning in grade school, Chris attended art courses at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and Northeastern Wisconsin Technical College as part of the Gifted and Talented Program. During his middle school years, he ran the student's stage crew, building sets for stage plays, including Bugsy Malone and Annie. Towards the end of high school, Chris began his career as a filmmaker, earning several nominations and awards at various small film festivals in the Midwest. It was around this time that Chris decided to attend the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee to study Film.
In 2008, he moved to Los Angeles and began working as an on-call Editor and Visual Effects Artist. Between jobs, he directed his two first Short Films since leaving UWM; Road Block and Murdrum. Both films received several festival selections. Chris also began working with a few high profile companies such as Funny or Die, The History Channel, Red Bull, Poya Pictures, Beachbody, Alter Ego Industries, and Dreamseek Entertainment.

From 2010 to 2015, Chris was employed full time at Dave Stewart Entertainment (DSE), in charge of Post Production. He also directed and edited several feature-length documentaries, including "The Ringmaster General" and "Superheavy". Chris also helped with Visual Effects on the feature documentary "Stevie Nicks: In Your Dreams."
"The Ringmaster General" is a bizarre story of how Guitar Legend Dave Stewart finds himself in Nashville, TN, recording two albums at Blackbird Studios owned by John and Martina McBride. The Documentary walks the line between reality and fiction, as it shows Dave create two full albums from scratch, with legends such as Joss Stone, Stevie Nicks, Alison Krauss, Martina McBride, Jessie Baylin, Bobby Keys, and more.
"Superheavy" is the journey of several legendary musicians from around the world coming together to create a super-group and release their debut self-titled album. Dave Stewart, Mick Jagger, Damian Marley, Joss Stone, and AR Rahman record in sessions in Los Angeles, France, Turkey, Miami, the Caribbean, India, and the coast of Cypress.
Chris also worked on several music videos and commercials with DSE, such as Dave Stewart's Girl in a Catsuit featuring Orianthi in which Chris directed. Chris also edited and completed visual effects in music videos for the Neon Trees, Deadmau5, Lionel Richie, and Kaskade to name a few.
Recently Chris has begun working freelance on Television shows and Features. Working with companies such as Red Bull, Eyeboogie, Inc., Sandwich Video, and others as a director, editor, visual effects artist, and also color correction.
Chris spends much of his free time working in his garage where he fuels his passion for hot rods and building unique art pieces from metal and wood, specifically lamps that he sells in his Etsy store, Champs Speed Shop.
